Remembering NAHC President Val Halamandaris
Simione Healthcare Consultants is deeply saddened to acknowledge the passing of Val J. Halamandaris, President of the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC), who was an exceptional leader, advocate, colleague and dear friend of the firm through five decades of efforts, in Congress and as President of NAHC, to advocate for the elderly and advance home health care and hospice. Val leaves behind a legacy of caring and an astonishing range of legislative successes, accomplishments, publications, honors and awards exemplifying his one goal – to improve and uphold our society’s respect and responsibility for elderly and disabled persons. No other individual in the last 50 years has accomplished so much to improve the lives and secure the rights of our nation’s senior adults and disabled persons.
Throughout the years of our collaboration and friendship, the Simione team had the great privilege to participate, support and guide many efforts alongside Val, whose hard work, leadership and steadfast advocacy has brought more than 30,000 home care and hospice organizations together to better serve the American people. Val’s work with our nation’s legislators led to America finding a better way to care for the elderly through the creation of home care and hospice benefits, and the founding of NAHC to advocate for millions of Americans receiving health care at home.
Simione’s Founding Member Bill Simione Jr., said, “Val was a unique and special man with an unwavering commitment to helping the most vulnerable people receive the care, attention and respect he believed they were so deserving of. He was a colleague, friend and someone I considered a brother, who will be missed greatly. The Simione team will be forever indebted to Val for sharing his strong ideals and his leadership to unite and support home care and hospice organizations in making a difference in their communities.”
Simione team extends its sincere sympathies to Val’s wife, Kathy, his family, friends and colleagues. We will always remember Val for his unfailing spirit to improve the lives of others, especially those who could not advocate for themselves.
